Impact: Educators Understand What They Can Do to Address Student Violence

After the Columbine school shootings in 1999, the National Association of School Psychologists and the American Institutes for Research received federal funding to provide educators with information on evidence-based and best practices for keeping schools safe. WEA connected their ideas to the audience by producing Early Warning, Timely Response: A Guide to Safe Schools, which was distributed to every U.S. school district and became one of the most requested books from the Government Printing Office. WEA also wrote and produced the award-winning documentary Promising Practices for Safe and Effective Schools, which aired as part of a nationwide series of federally-sponsored town hall meetings and became part of a commercially published product.
