Impact: Improved Learning for Diverse Groups of Students

In an initiative to bring standards-based curriculum to its diverse student population, Baltimore City Public Schools sought the expertise of WEA to develop the STEPS for Instructing Diverse Learners model. WEA connected district leaders’ ideas to professional development materials—grade-level books with embedded district standards, training materials, updates, research guides, teacher observation tools, and an award-winning documentary that chronicled the STEPS approach—that assisted teachers districtwide in differentiating instruction..
