Impact: Expanded Professional Development Opportunities on Effective Instructional Practices

The Council for Exceptional Children and the CEEDAR Center at the University of Florida identified high-leverage practices that all educators who work with students with disabilities should know and master. As part of this work they had published print and video materials they wanted integrated into an online professional development toolkit to promote their work. WEA made the connection to their audience by writing and producing Introducing High-Leverage Practices in Special Education: A Professional Development Guide for School Leaders, which included information briefs, brochures, and tools such as agendas, fillable forms, activities, and slide presentations). The guide not only referred participants to the source materials, but also provided a strategy to disseminate the high-leverage practices throughout public schools.
